Pianist and postgraduate student Sten Ulloa Carler from the Malm\u00f6 Academy of Music will perform an exciting programme featuring works by Beethoven and young Swedish composers.<\/p>\n

During her diploma recital, Sten Ulloa Carler will present some of the absolute masterpieces of the piano repertoire, interwoven with newly composed music by young Swedish composers. Among other pieces, we shall hear Beethoven\u2019s final piano sonata, Op. 111, which serves as a natural transition into the Romantic period, presented here alongside music by Robert Schumann.<\/p>\n
Sten Ulloa Carler (born 1997) is a Swedish-Chilean pianist who has established himself as a leading figure of his generation. He grew up in Chile, where he began his piano studies, and continued his education in Sweden at S\u00f6dra Latin Upper Secondary School in Stockholm.<\/p>\n
Sten subsequently studied at the Ingesund School of Music under Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist, where he obtained his Bachelor\u2019s degree in 2019, and at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) under Roger Muraro and Isabelle Dubuis. He has also completed a Master\u2019s degree at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm\/Edsberg under Mats Widlund. He is currently completing his studies with a soloist diploma at the Malm\u00f6 Academy of Music under Francisca Skoogh and Tuija Hakkila.<\/p>\n
As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed in Sweden, the rest of Europe and South America. Even whilst still a student, he attracted attention through several competition successes in Sweden, England and Chile, including first prize in the Chilean national competition, the Certamen Flora Guerra, in 2018. He has since also been a prize-winner at the Malm\u00f6 Yamaha Piano Competition in 2024.<\/p>\n
He has received a number of grants from organisations including the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, the G\u00e5l\u00f6 Foundation, the Jubel Fund, the Forssius Foundation and the Meyer Foundation.
