Christmas in Malmö City 2024

Welcome to a winterwonderland

The city centre will be dressed for Christmas from end of November into January and a variety of activities will take place. Enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights while you stroll along the 1,2 km pedestrian street with its wide range of shops and places to eat or drink. Wander down to the quaint area of Davidshall, just a stone’s throw from the pedestrian street, to find some more unusual shops. When you want to stop for a meal you have a wide choice, from the picturesque square Lilla torg to the more modern area of Södertull, and lots more spread across the city. Malmö city centre also boasts three indoor shopping centres – Triangeln, Hansa and Kv Caroli – all with their own image. Not to mention the indoor food market Malmö Saluhall close to Malmö Live Hotel and Concert, well worth a visit.

Christmas market on Gustav Adolfs torg

Every Thursday to Sunday from November 28 to December 22 there will be a traditional Christmas market on the most central square in the city centre, Gustav Adolf’s square. The market will mainly have a local and regional focus offering genuine crafts, lovely Christmas gifts and food. Some of the twenty-five vendors will be the same for the duration, while others will be there just for one of the Thursday-Sunday-periods when another exciting vendor will appear in its place, to ensure a variety of goods for different visitors. The market will also offer seasonal photo opportunities with specific light installations.
