Medieval church statues, pews, rustic medieval tables with wooden chairs in medieval-inspired basement halls - connected by winding cellar corridors and linked to mysterious rooms behind grates where wine is stored and rests - invite you to atmospheric dinners. There are candles and fires lit here, and medieval decor with timeless, beautiful, classical touches and some flowers.
If you look around for a while, you will see not only the medieval environment, but also things that happened and were intended in depth.
The church statues were carved once upon a time, they had a place and a purpose, and then someone found them when they were travelling around and had a vision. That's why they are where they are today, creating an atmosphere for us in Malmö. The paintings were painted by someone and often depict someone or something that meant something. Even the smallest details, such as the bricks and how they are laid, have been done on purpose. Someone once sat at the table in knightly armour and had their dinner thoughts. So it is with the wine cellar.
The glow of lit candles and fireplaces plays across faces as we dine, and not infrequently this gives the extra impact to conversations and gestures. It's said for real down here and it lasts.
Good laughs - or noisy ones - are sometimes heard through the pleasant background music and give a feeling of being in the middle of the wine cellar and what is happening down here, as well as of good humour and pleasant moments.
It brings together the work of connoisseurs, wine tasters, winemakers, wine talkers, chefs and fine drinkers and gives us the moments we all so appreciate, through what we can enjoy together thanks to it.
