About us

Malmö Citysamverkan bildades 1995 och är ett samarbetsföretag utan vinstsyfte.
Vi ägs i tre lika delar av handel och övrigt näringsliv, fastighetsägarna i city och Malmö stad,
vår övergripande uppgift är vidareutveckla stadskärnan till gagn för våra medlemmar,
invånare och besökare.

Our background

Malmö Citysamverkan was formed to be a platform between private and public actors and to promote collaboration for the development of the common place.

Dessutom behövdes en organisation som kunde skapa ett varumärke för
Malmö City, marknadsföra det och skapa innehåll med andra parter,
såväl i projektform som mer beständiga insatser.

Our background

Activities are funded through the annual service fee, with one third each from the partners. There is also project funding and sponsorship and voluntary contributions from various associations and organisations that we choose to work with.

Funding through EU projects or grants can also be part of the project economy. Every cent spent is an investment that pays back many times over in the form of activities, events, Christmas lights, etc.

Field of activity

Our geographical area of operation extends from the Central Station area in the north to the Triangle area in the south, and from Drottningtorget in the east to Davidshallstorg in the west. We work to densify within our area, but regularly redefine the boundaries as the city centre continues to grow and develop.

This is what we do for the city!

We work with partners both to make the city centre beautiful and functional, and to promote our shared place and its fantastic offer. This can mean anything from Christmas lights, neighbourhood development and cleaning projects to small and large physical events and various digital communication initiatives.

Through the Malmö City Gift Card, we offer private individuals and companies an appreciated and convenient gift, while benefiting the local business community. In "The past year" you can read more about what we worked on during the previous year. Read it here.

Honours and awards

Malmö City has won the "City Centre of the Year" competition four times, in 2010, 2005, 2000 and 2023! In 2000, 2005 and 2023 it won gold, and silver in 2010.

The jury's motivation for the 2023 award was as follows:

"Through a wide-ranging effort, professional attitude and great expertise, the city's stakeholders have planned and implemented important joint development projects.

Culture plays a major role, safety issues are addressed in a structured way and new development models have been implemented on a broad front. Innovative transport solutions, urban corridors, attractive places and exciting concepts have been created. In addition, there is a clear strategy for marketing, communication and building the city's brand.

Everyone wants to be involved and contribute to the development and attractiveness of the city centre. Congratulations on a fantastic job with your city centre! Malmö, you are a role model!"

Malmö Citysamverkan was recognised in 2010 as "Partnership of the Year" at the World Congress of the Industry in London with the motivation:

"Malmö Citysamverkan is a fantastic best practice example in city centre development. It has great strength of involvement from both the private and public sectors and boasts a wide remit of achievements.

The effect of the work proves this is a truly worthwhile investment for all partners and has resulted in a city centre of world class standard."
