Akademibokhandeln's first store opened its doors in 1971. Today, we are Sweden's leading bookstore chain with over 100 stores from north to south. Our vision is to spread the joy of reading to everyone, every day. The thousands of books we sell contain great experiences, relaxing entertainment and deep insights. We are the gift for the student, the diary to collect thoughts in, and the puzzle around which the family gathers. Our stores are visited 18 million times a year, and we are always open online. Our business concept

We offer the widest range of books in all formats, as well as inspiring products for anyone who wants to write, draw, craft, plan and store.

With knowledge and service as our starting point, we create meeting places where we guide and inspire our customers to enjoy reading, creativity and buying. Through a nationwide store network, digital channels and subscription services, we reach more book buyers in Sweden than anyone else. With the customer and profitability in focus, we continuously develop our sales channels.

Our customers are private individuals, companies and public organisations throughout Sweden.

At the Retail Awards 2017, Akademibokhandeln won the Retail Chain of the Year award. A high level of service, inspiring stores and a carefully selected range are some of the reasons for the win.
 

Friends of Akademibokhandeln - a popular members' club

Akademibokhandelns Vänner was launched in 2015 and has since grown into a popular membership club with 2.1 million members. Our friends are offered tips and inspiration, the customer magazine READ, personalised discounts, membership offers and other benefits, such as competitions and invitations to author events. We are super proud and excited that Akademibokhandel's Friends was named Loyalty Programme of the Year in the Retail Awards 2019. The jury's motivation was as follows:
