With his unique ability to balance the absurd with relatability, Christoffer Nyqvist has become one of Sweden’s most beloved young comedians. He is now back with his new stand-up show, “Lejonet från Norden”, and on 26 November he will be performing at Slagthusets Teater.
Despite the title, it’s not about Gustav II Adolf; instead, it’s a daft 75-minute show about what Christoffer’s been thinking about since last time.
- I want to experiment with the one-man show format this time, and the idea is actually to make it a bit more of a spectacle – something people might not immediately associate with me. But it’s something I’ve wanted to try for a long time, and now’s the time to go for it, as we’ve booked venues that are bigger than a pallet, says Christoffer.
Christoffer started doing stand-up when he was 17, which was ten years ago. “The Lion from the North” will be his second solo tour.
- I enjoy writing stand-up comedy and coming up with jokes. As usual, I draw on my own experiences, and if there aren’t enough of those, I turn to the news. That’s why I need to start reading the paper again and/or experience terrible things that I can turn into something funny, he notes.
