Wisetalks: Morgan Alling

Behind every smile is a story. Behind every mask is a person. In the lecture What you don't see - the story behind the mask, Morgan Alling offers a poignant, humorous and inspiring journey through his own life. He talks about his tough childhood, the struggle to put his fist in his pocket and the success built on sheer will, but also about the consequences of switching off your emotions and letting the past catch up with you.

With warmth, self-distance and a great sense of humour, Morgan describes how he eventually collapsed, but also how he rose up, stronger, braver and more present than ever. The audience follows his journey from self-loathing to self-awareness, from shame to strength, and how love and the courage to be vulnerable became the turning point.

The lecture mixes research, laughter, seriousness, sketches, songs, pictures and leaves no one untouched. Morgan reminds us that we all wear a mask - but that it is only when we dare to lift it that life can be lived to the full.
