Niklas Fredin is a well-known figure on the Skåne jazz scene and a musician with both versatility and personality. With his trumpet, flugelhorn and voice, he moves effortlessly between swing, bebop, blues, ballads and the American songbook. His warm tone, feel for melody and strong roots in the jazz tradition make him a highly regarded soloist and singer.
At the piano is Mattias Nilsson, a Malmö-based jazz pianist and composer with over 20 years’ experience as a professional musician and more than 2,000 concerts in 36 countries to his name. His playing has its roots in the jazz tradition but is also characterised by Nordic sounds, improvisation and a strong melodic expression. Fredin and Nilsson share a long musical history together, and on *Billie Holiday* they come together in a classic jazz format, this time accompanied by bass and drums, which lends the performance even more swing, energy and spontaneity.
The audience can look forward to an evening filled with swing, blues, beautiful ballads and gems from jazz’s vast repertoire, where ensemble playing and improvisation take centre stage.
