International Festival Ballet returns to Slagthusets Teater with their production of Swan Lake! This time, they are accompanied by the Festival Symphonik Orchestra who take the performance to the next level. On 30 November you get another chance to experience the best ballet classic of all time on Slaghuset's theatre stage - don't miss it!
For many, 'Swan Lake' is synonymous with 'ballet'. The romantic tale of the young Prince Siegfried who falls in love with the Swan Princess Odetta and wants to free her from Duke Rothbart's evil spell is a story about the power of true love. This ballet is part of the standard repertoire of all major companies. The Allegro Moderato from the Swan Dances in Act 2, choreographed by Lev Ivanov, in particular, has been the subject of countless parodies and is therefore known far beyond the ballet-going public as the 'Dance of the Four Little Swans'. In short, it is a work of genius by a genius composer and has been a crowd-puller for centuries.
'Swan Lake' is brought to the stage by one of the best classical ballet ensembles, the International Festival Ballet. The magnificent set design by the brilliant theatre designer Vyacheslav Okunev, who has worked for the Marinsky Theatre in St Petersburg and La Scala in Milan, beautiful costumes and the boundless elegance and carefree lightness of the ballet ensemble guarantee a dreamy and fairytale-like version of a classical ballet that continues to fascinate after more than 100 years.
