Beyond Retro

Hos Beyond Retro at Triangeln, second hand is not just about clothes, but about personality, sustainability and giving garments a new life. The store combines colour, vintage and a carefully selected range that differs from the newly produced fashion.

We have spoken to the store manager Sofia Siöland about the vision behind the shop, how they work with sustainability and why second hand continues to attract more and more customers.

I like to express myself through the way I dress, preferably colours, shapes and garments that give a fun impression.

What is your vision for Beyond Retro here at Triangeln?

That the store should have a carefully selected range of fine things and a clear focus on highlighting unique vintage garments.

How do you work with sustainability in practice?

The people who receive the clothes go through everything and pick out the best that can be sold, we also have people in the company who sew and upcycle clothes. The clothes are then sent out to our various stores in Sweden. We do not throw anything away. What is not sold here is sent on to our other stores to be tested there before it goes on to the next stage to either be resold or reused.

We also have a trade-in system where you can hand in clothes and get a gift voucher in the shop. It's a bit like bartering.

What does it mean to be part of the City?

Very much so, I would say. It's a lot of fun.

What do you think distinguishes second hand from new fashion?

Firstly, it is much better for the environment. Secondly, you can find much more unique garments.

I like to express myself through the way I dress, preferably with colours, shapes and garments that give a fun impression. This can be more difficult to find in new fashion.

What inspires you in your work?

What inspires me most are the customers and my colleagues. Customer contact is the best thing I know.

We have many regular customers who know us by both first and last name. They may come in and ask for a specific person and are happy to wait if that person is not available.

What do you hope customers feel when they leave the shop?

That they want to come back. We hope that customers feel comfortable and that there is a good atmosphere here.

We are always happy in here and our goal is to make everyone feel like they want to come back because it is so nice here.

If someone has never shopped second-hand, what would you say to them?

Come over the threshold and try it! It's really not that different from inheriting a jumper from your mum. If you just take the first step, you usually get hooked right away.

We have a well-stocked and colour-coordinated shop, so it should be easy to come in and find something. Feel free to ask us if there is something you are looking for, we always help.
