Concert: Grymlings | Slagthuset Theatre

Grymlings, the successful Swedish band, are making a sensational comeback 35 years after their breakthrough. The band was formed by rock icon Mikael Rickfors, and took its name from his farm on Gotland. “It feels absolutely brilliant to be able to go out and play these songs again; it’s something I’m really looking forward to. It will also be a way for us to remember and pay tribute to our late members Magnus Lindberg and Pugh Rogefeldt. For me personally, it means a little bit more to my heart that the premiere is taking place on Gotland, which has meant so much to me and the others in Grymlings,” says Mikael Rickfors, singer, songwriter and founder of Grymlings.

Grymling’s big breakthrough came with the song “Mitt bästa för dig”, which spent 23 weeks on the Svensktoppen chart, 14 of them at number one. The band’s second single, “Där gullvivan blommar”, was also a huge hit and helped their self-titled debut album sell an impressive 170,000 copies. In 1992, the follow-up album *Grymlings II* was released, and it too was a great success, achieving high positions on the album chart. The tracks “En glädjesång” and “Väntar på en vän” made it onto the Svensktoppen chart.

The original line-up of Grymlings included Pugh Rogefeldt, Göran Lagerberg and Magnus Lindberg. Now that the group is hitting the road again, both Rogefeldt and Lindberg have long since passed away, and have been replaced by the group’s producer Lasse Lindbom and the Skåne rock legend Dan Hylander. On the new tour, entitled ‘Det bästa för dig’ (‘The Best for You’), the members of Grymlings will perform not only the band’s most beloved songs, but also their biggest hits as solo artists. These include classics such as Rickfors’ “Vingar” and “När stormen river öppet hav”, Hylander’s “Svart kaffe”, “Farväl till Katalonien” and “Skuggor i skymningen”, Lagerberg’s “Every Raindrop Means a Lot” (from his time with Tages) and Lindbom’s “Kom och värm dej” and “Tänd ett ljus”.
