For more than forty years, The Jayhawks have been creating music that embodies the enduring spirit and soul that characterise classic American songwriting. With their upcoming album *Sanctuary Park*, the band are returning to Sweden for a concert at Slagthusets Teater on 11 September!
The Jayhawks swam against the tide when they broke through a crowded music scene in Minnesota in 1985, but went on to become pioneers of today’s Americana movement through a series of classic albums that introduced rock audiences to their unique blend of country, folk, soul, Britpop and rock ’n’ roll.
The band have played at almost every major music festival, from Farm Aid to Primavera Sound, and from Pinkpop to Wilco’s *Sky Blue Sky*. In the tradition of The Band and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Jayhawks have toured with and acted as a backing band for many of music’s most acclaimed visionaries, including Ray Davies, Roger McGuinn and Johnny Cash.
Today, Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Karen Grotberg and Tim O’Reagan continue to record and tour all over the world. With over 12 studio albums and three live albums to their name, The Jayhawks are still building a musical legacy that stands the test of time and has established them as one of the most important cornerstones of alt-country today.
