Performing Elton & Freddie’s music is no mean feat, and we can say without a doubt that Johan Boding and Jonas Gideon are among the very best we have in Sweden for this task. Elton John and Freddie Mercury met in the 1970s when their careers were at their peak, and a deep respect and friendship developed between the two. Unfortunately, they didn’t do much together on stage or musically. That is precisely what Johan and Jonas now want to create: what might a musical collaboration between these two giants look like?
Johan Boding is undoubtedly one of Sweden’s most talented singers, with a voice that touches the soul. He has toured all over the world, mainly in arena shows paying tribute to Freddie Mercury and Queen, but also in hit productions such as *Thank You for the Music*, ‘Sol vind och vatten’ and ‘Den Svenska Sångboken’. Johan has also performed in numerous ‘Rhapsody in Rock’ shows, and as a musical theatre star we have seen him in productions including ‘Miss Saigon’ and ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.
Jonas Gideon is a Swedish musician, singer and pianist whose passion for music was kindled as early as his childhood. At the age of eight, he began playing Elton John’s songs on the piano, which laid the foundations for his musical career. A defining moment came in 1998 when he happened to meet Elton John by chance before a concert at Ullevi in Gothenburg. This encounter inspired him to learn nearly 200 of Elton’s songs and to see him perform live 14 times. After 20 years as a musician, in 2023 he launched “A True Elton John Tribute”, a tribute show that quickly became a hit with sold-out performances and rave reviews. Throughout his career, Jonas has collaborated with several of Sweden’s leading artists, including Carola, Molly Sandén, Jennifer Brown, Victor Norén and Janne Schaffer.
